The Women's Swimming and Diving team finished strong against the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The Panthers topped the Mavericks, 146-142. The swimmers and divers finished with eight first-place finishes.
Chelsea Hartman took first in the 500 free (5:12.07) and 200 free (1:58.50). She also swam in the 100 free finishing in 56.80.
Abby Girard took first in the 100 back and 200 back, finishing in 59.43 and 2:09.67, respectively.
Kelly McCullough finished strong in the 1,000 free, clocking in with a time of 10:55.06. Shortly behind was teammate Stephanie Yattoni with a time of 10:55.89. McCullough also took second in the 200 fly (2:17.15) and 200 back (2:14.63).
Maggie Rickert, with a time of 1:00.98, took first in the 100 butterfly. She also took the runner-up spot in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.19, just 3 hundredths of second off the first place finisher.
Lauren Nelson took the runner-up spot in both events with 217.15 points for the 1-meter and 234.65 points for the 3-meter.
Josie Itzen took the runner-up spot in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. She finished with a time of 2:13.95 and 1:11.93, respectively. Itzen also took third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:32.81.
With a time of 55.07, Stephanie Frederick took the runner-up spot in the 100 freestyle.
In the 500 freestyle, Stephanie Yattoni and April Mangrich took third and fourth. Yattoni finished with a time of 5:22.93 and Mangrich with a time of 5:24.00.
In both of the relay events, the Panthers took the runner-up shots. In the 200 medley relay, A. Girard, Sarah Heeden, Rickert and Stephanie Frederick finished with a time of 1:53.42. Rickerts, Frederick, Hartman and A.Girard swam with a time of 3:38.27 in the 400 freestyle relay.
The Panthers next action will come Jan. 23, at Kansas against Kansas and South Dakota. The meet is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the Robinson Natatorium in Lawrence, Kan.
