Panthers Dominate Throwing Events at Wisconsin Twilight

MADISON, Wis. - The University of Northern Iowa field athletes dominated the competition Friday evening at the Wisconsin Twilight. In the first day of the two-day meet, the Panthers captured three first place finishes with Adam Pinckney taking the top spot in the hammer throw while Justin Romero and Sarah Harms finished first in the men's and women's shot put.
Pinckney heaved 169-07 to finish first in the men's hammer throw, followed by Tanner Hurt in second with a toss of 167-07.
Justin Romero tossed 50-07.25 to take the top honor in the shot put, tossing just shy of his season-best. Allen Weeks took third with a heave of 47-01.50.
Weeks also took runner-up honors in the discus, tossing 157-02. Hurt finished in third with a throw of 154-02.
Sarah Harms registered a toss of 45-10.50 to finish in first place in the women's shot put. Traci Harms finished in second with a season-best throw of 43-02.50.
In addition to the shot put, Courtney Landers took third place in the event, tossing 162-01.
The Panthers return to action in Madison, Wis. tomorrow as field events will begin at 1:30 p.m. and running events take-off at 4:35 p.m.
