Beese Improves Regional Qualifying Mark in Pole Vault

MADISON, Wis. – The University of Northern Iowa track and field team wrapped up competition at the Wisconsin Twilight Saturday evening, setting a number of season-best marks. A select few Panthers competed in the final tune-up meet as the Panthers head to the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships next weekend.
In the field events, Mike Beese vaulted an outdoor career-best of 17-01.00 in the pole vault to take the top spot and improve his regional qualifying mark. Sam Kranz also cleared an outdoor career-best 16-02.00 to take fourth.
Adam Pinckney recorded season-best tosses in the shot put, both heaving 50-10.75 to tie for third place.
Tanner Hurt tossed 174-07 in the hammer throw, taking fourth place. In the long jump, Quentin Scott took runner-up honors, leaping 23-08.
Wojciech Jurkowski finished sixth (15.30).
Freshman Thibault Vandenabeele recorded a season-best time in the 1500 meter run, taking the top spot with a time of 3:49.60.
Wisconsin native Andrew Perkins took the top time in the 800 meter run, finishing in 1:51.38. Mike Craddick took sixth place (1:53.04) followed by Jack Odgen in ninth (1:55.90).
Andy Schon took the runner-up spot in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, clocking in at 9:48.09.
On the women's side, finished in second place in the long jump, leaping 19-00.50.
Courtney Landers in fourth with a heave of 156-05. Traci Harms finished in fifth place (150-02). Sarah Harms also took runner-up honors in the shot put, tossing 45-07.
Heather Kessler and Brittany Korell took third through fifth place in the 100 hurdles. Hale recorded a season-low 15.04 to take third followed by Kessler in fourth (15.30) and Korell in fifth (15.49).
The Panthers will now prepare for the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships next weekend in Terre Haute, Ind. Multi-event competition is scheduled to begin Friday, May 15.
