Panthers Qualify Four Events For NCAA Championships

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The University of Northern Iowa track and field team racked up four qualifying marks for the NCAA Indoor Championships in Saturday's Meyo Invitational, including a run by the Panthers' men's 4x400 squad that currently ranks No. 5 nationally.
UNI senior Tyler Mulder took third in the men's 800 meters in 1:50.13 and sophomore Dorian Ulrey took seventh in the famed "Meyo Mile" by clocking a personal-best run of 4:01.66.
Mulder's effort in the 800 meters ranks 11th nationally this season, while Reid's time in the 400 meters places him ninth on the national list.
The Panthers' 4x400 team of Cory Goos, Ryan Grenko, Mulder and Reid won in an extremely competitive field by clocking in at 3:08.98 - a season best for UNI by nearly 4 1/2 seconds.
Goos led off the race with a 47.84-second split, which Grenko followed by turning his 400 in 46.96. Mulder then clocked in at 47.01 before Reid anchored the Panthers home in 46.61.

The Panthers' effort in the women's 4x400 relay took seventh in 3:47.17. The team of Holli Hosch (58.04-second split), Jamie Hutchinson (55.60), Amy Bagge (57.07) and Lauren Carruthers (56.01) trimmed 5 1/2 seconds off UNI's previous season-best effort.
Carruthers also took home 12th in the open 400 meters.
ADIDAS CLASSIC RESULTS
At the adidas Classic in
Alyssa Fischer posted a season-best leap of 17-8 1/4 to take ninth in the long jump, while sophomore Dani Stipe jumped 37-1 3/4 in her first-ever competition in the triple jump, finishing in seventh place.
Also, junior Sarah Harms took fourth in the women's shot put with a toss of 47-1 1/2.
On the men's side, the Panthers' entry in the 4x400 relay took second, with the team of Dennis Hammel, Pete Larson and Greg Offerman clocking in at 3:16.06.
Senior Ehi Oamen and Julian Morris tied for seventh in the men's high jump by clearing 6-6 3/4.
Adam Pinckney threw 50-4 to finish ninth in the men's shot put, while Rozle Bucalo jumped 22-8 1/2 to take 10th in the long jump.
The Panthers return to action next weekend at the Iowa State Classic in
