Also Friday, UNI junior Tyler Mulder secured a place in the finals of the men's 800 meters by clocking the second-fastest time in the event's preliminaries. Mulder took second place in his preliminary heat in a time of 1:49.05, finishing just behind heat winner Elkana Kosgei of LSU, whose clocking of 1:49.03 was the top overall preliminary time.
The run was Mulder's second-fastest 800-meter performance this season. He ran 1:48.17 earlier this season to enter the NCAA meet ranked No. 6 nationally.

He posted a leap of 21 feet, 6 3/4 inches in the long jump.
Cepeda moved into fifth with a strong performance in the shot put, finishing second behind Addy with a throw of 48-11. The heave was Cepeda's third-best effort of the season
Through three events, Cepeda owned a score of 2,348, with Addy's total of 2,562 good for the event lead.
Both UNI athletes lost ground in the high jump, however, with Clark clearing 6 feet, 4 inches and Cepeda posting a best leap of 6-1 1/2. Cepeda had jumped 6-6 1/4 this season, while
