Jansen Remains Unbeaten In Weight Throw

Jansen won her fifth-consecutive weight throw title by posting an effort of 61 feet, 5 inches to top
For the Panther men, Lucas Cook took eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 54-1 3/4.
Jansen, who owns UNI's school record and has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the weight throw, has won the event in each of the five meets in which she has competed this season.
PANTHERS OPEN COMPETITION AT MEYO INVITATIONAL
UNI senior Mike Beese and redshirt freshman Phil Hanson tied for seventh in the men's pole vault n the first day of competition at the Meyo Invitational in
Hawley trimmed nearly 4 1/2 seconds off her previous personal best in the 5,000 to finish near the top of a loaded field, crossing the line in 17:18.49. The Panthers' Andrea Wacker took 21st in the race with a time of 17:57.66.
Beese posted his second-best mark of the season by clearing 16-4 3/4. His effort tied for the second-highest clearance of the day, but he and Hanson - who set a personal-best with his 16-4 3/4 clearance - were relegated to seventh on total misses. Jason Wurster was the only competitor to go higher than the mark matched by Beese and Hanson, winning the event with a clearance of 16-8 3/4.
The Panthers continue competition in both meets Saturday, with action getting underway at the adidas Classic at 11 a.m., and Meyo Invitational running events commencing at 8 a.m. Live results from the adidas Classic are available at www.huskers.com, while FloTrack will provide video coverage of the Meyo Invitational at www.flotrack.com.
