2016-17: Top-8 finishes in the 200 freestyle and backstroke at MVC Championships (2/15-2/18).....200 freestyle time was 1:51.53…..200 backstroke timed in at 2:01.24….Top-16 finish in the 100 backstroke, swimming in at 58.17….Teamed up with Florman, Roepsch, and Lembezeder in the 200 freestyle relay and a UNI and MVC record, timing in at 1:32.04 for first place….Met up with Lembezeder, Florman and Taylor in the 400 freestyle relay for a UNI and MVC record, swimming a 3:22.01 for first place…..Took second place in the 400 medley relay with Taylor, Herrmann and Phyfe, swimming a 3:43.50….Finished in third place in the 800 freestyle, timing in at 7:22.20 with Taylor, Lembezeder and Siebenaller….Named to the First Team All Conference….Named to the Scholar-Athlete team.....Had a season best time in the 50 freestyle at the UNO Invite for third place (12/1-12/3)....Grabbed third place in the 100 backstroke, timing in at 57.84 (12/1-12/3)...Swam a 56.62 in the 100 freestyle against Nebraska-Omaha (10/29).....Swam in the 200 freestyle at the Mutual of Omaha Invite (12/1-12/3), timing in at 1:52.89....Timed in at 28.40 in the 50 backstroke against Iowa Central and Loras (1/13).....Swam to a time of 2:04.51 in the 200 backstroke (11/11)....Timed in at 1:01.88 in the 100 butterfly against South Dakota State (11/11).....Grabbed top-8 finishes in the 100 and 200 IMs, timing in at 59.83 and 2:07.32 respectively....Best relay time in the 200 freestyle relay, teaming up with Florman, Roepsch, Lembezeder for a time of 1.33.63 and fourth place (11/18-11/20)....took first place in the 400 freestyle relay with Lembezeder, Roepsch, Florman for a time of 3:25.07 (12/1-12/3)....Would team up with Ostrowski, Herrmann and Rinaldi in the 400 medley relay, swimming a 3:52.06 (11/18-11/20...Competed with Taylor, Siebenaller and Lembezeder in the 800 freestyle for a time of 7:33.93 for first place (12/1-12/3).....Competed in all meets this season
2015-16: Named to the Scholar Athlete Team...Named to 1st Team All-Conference….Third place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.12, breaking her school record (2/20)....Set a new MVC record in the 400 freestyle relay with Crystal Florman, Molly Lembezeder and Autumn Roepsch, timing in at 3:23.56 (2/20).....Top-8 finishes in the 100 backstroke, with a time of 56.73 (2/19).....Broke the school record with Madison Rinaldi, Veronica Herrmann and Crystal Florman in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:44.83 (2/19….Top-20 finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.29 (2/18).....Narrowly missed first place in the 400 Freestyle Relay with Molly Lembezeder, Crystal Florman and Autumn Roepsch with a time of 3:32.36. Competed with Kelsey Ostrowski, Autumn Roepsch, and Abby Meyer for a time of 1:51.78. Fourth place in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.85 (1/23)…First place in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:00.86; also took first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.20 (1/16)….PR in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.66. Also swam a 1:54.43 in the 200 Freestyle. 200 Backstroke time of 2:03.61 (12/4-6)…Swam a time of 2:07.15 in the 200 IM which was also good for a new school record and a 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:55.02. Also competed in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.50 and a 52.67 in the 100 Freestyle. 50 Backstroke time of 27.65, 100 Backstroke time of 58.08 (11/20-22) ….First place in 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:52.79 (11/6)…Time of 2:01.22 in the 200 Freestyle (10/30)….First place 200 Backstroke with time of 2:09.21 and third place in the 200 Medley Relay with Kelsey Ostrowski, Veronica Herrmann, and Autumn Roepsch for a time of 1:50.22 (10/23)… Second place in the 200 Freestyle Relay with Lauren Kacmarynski, Sierra Sachtjen and Abby Meyer for a time of 1:52.76 (10/22)
2014-15: Finished 10th place in the 100 freestyle at MVC Championships (2/20) with a time of 52.26....Combined with Molly Lembezeder, Miki Freese and Rachel Siebenaller in the 400 freestyle relay to bring home a new school record in the relay with an a-final time of 3:26.53, surpassing their previous school-record preliminaries time of 3:27.58.….Broke a five year old record in the 100 backstroke with a prelim time of 57.31.... would go on to finish ninth overall and captured the win in the B-final of the 100 backstroke at the MVC Championships (2/20)....Combined with a 400 medley relay team of Veronica Herrmann, Taylor Ostrowski and Molly Lembezeder for a new school record of 3:48.66, besting the previous record set in 2014 of 3:51.28 at the MVC Championships (2/18-2/20)….Broke the school record with a time of 1:34.83 in a 200 freestyle relay with Lemezeder, Miki Freese and Siebenaller at the MVC Championships (2/18-2/20)....800 freestyle relay team of Molly Lembezeder, Sierra Sachtjen and Rachel Siebenaller combined for a new school-record time of 7:29.47, besting the previous record by 11 seconds at the MVC Championships (2/18)...Season-best time of 2:11.84 in the 200 backstroke at the 12/13 meet....In the 200 IM, race a 2:10.84, good for a personal-record and good for sixth all-time on the UNI records list at the Mutual of Omaha Invitational (12/5)
2013: First collegiate victory in the 200 freestyle at USD, placed second in the 100 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay team placed first (10/26) ... Won the 100 freestyle vs North Dakota (11/1) ... Placed 15th (of 52) in the 200 freestyle at the Kansas Classic Invitational, took 14th in the 200 breaststroke finals (11/22-24) ... 200 Medley Relay team took 2nd place at UNO Invitational, placed second in the 100 backstroke, finished second in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay team placed second, took second in the 50 freestyle, took third in the 200 freestyle (12/6-7) ... Finished second in the 200 freestyle vs Nebraska, took third in the 50 freestyle, placed second in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay team finished second (12/13) ... 200 Medley Relay team placed third at Illinois State, finished third in the 100 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay team placed second (1/11) ... Won first place in the 200 freestyle vs Nebraska-Omaha, third-place in the 50 freestyle, second-place finisher in the 100 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay first-place finisher (1/24) ... Took fifth-place in the 200 freestyle, third-place in the 50 freestyle vs Iowa State, 100 freestyle runner up, 200 freestyle relay team finished second-place (1/25) ... 200 freestyle relay team finished fifth and broke the school-record at MVC Championships, placed eighth in the 50 freestyle and broke the school record in prelims, 400 medley relay team placed fourth and broke the school record, placed seventh in the 200 freestyle and set a new UNI school record, 800 freestyle relay team placed fifth and set a new UNI school record, finished fifth in the 100 freestyle and set a new UNI school record, 400 freestyle relay team placed fifth and set a new UNI school record (2/13-15) ... 2nd team all-conference selection
High School: State champion in the 100 freestyle her senior year… Named first team all-conference… Qualified for state… Named first team all-conference her sophomore and junior years as well… Has the school records in the 100 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay at Cedar Falls High School… Named the 2012 Conference Swimmer of the Year… Named first team all-state in basketball.
Personal: Born June 16, 1995 in Rochester, Minneosta… Daughter of Steve and Lisa Phyfe… Father, Steve, played basketball and ran track at UNI… Has one brother, Austin (18)… Majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Instructional Strategist.…Hobbies include hanging with friends, shopping, sports, and scrapbooking
