UNI men’s golf heads to MVC Championship for season finale

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI men's golf team will travel to Waterloo, Illinois, for the 2026 MVC Championship April 26-28 at Annbriar Golf Club. The MVC Championship tees off at 9:30 a.m. CT on Sunday for round one, with three days of 18 holes a day.
The Panthers are coming off a 13th place finish at the Hawkeye Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, with a total score of 911 (+47). Iowa took home the team title, shooting a 851 (-13), while their own Ryan Shellberg claimed the individual title, carding a 206 (-10).
Junior Tanner Dinnebier led the Panther Pack, finishing in a six-way tie for 28th place with a score of 223 (+7). Dinnebier continued his strong play, shooting 76-74-73 over the two-day tournament and sinking seven birdies. Calen Bishop placed in a three-way tie for 54th, carding a 229 (+13). Bishop shot his best round of the tournament in round one with a 72 (E), while tallying three birdies. Cooper Hanson finished in a five-way tie for 57th place with a 230 (+14), shooting consistently in three rounds with 78-78-74 and recording eight birdies.
Nile Petersen finished in 72nd place, shooting 236 (+20). Petersen shot 78-77-81 and carded 5 birdies with three of those coming in round two. Anthony Galvin placed 73rd with a final score of 237 (+21). Galvin shot his best round of the tournament in round one with a 74 (+2), sinking 4 birdies in that round and six total birdies over the two-day tournament to round out play for the Panthers.
UNI placed sixth in last season's championship, as Cooper Hanson, Tanner Dinnebier, and Caleb Bishop return to action this season. Hanson led the three returners with a 24th-place finish, while Dinnebier was 30th and Bishop was 40th.
