Hill, Lillie go the distance at Bryan Clay Invitational

AZAUSA, Calif. --- UNI distance runners Amelia Hill and Colin Lillie took to the track on Thursday and Friday under the lights at Cougar Athletic Stadium for the distance portion of the 2026 Bryan Clay Invitational in the greater Los Angeles area.
Opening competition up on Thursday night, Hill competed in the women's 3,000 open steeplechase for the first time this outdoor season, clocked a time of 10:30.04 to finish fifth in her heat and 27th overall out of 118 athletes. Her performance was the best time of her collegiate career competing as an attached competitor for Northern Iowa.
Lillie wrapped up the week for UNI in the men's open 5,000-meter run on Friday night, running a time of 14:45.25 and placing 29th in his heat and 117th overall in the 139-man field in section A of the open division The fourth-fastest time of his career, Lillie placed eighth in the event at the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Indoor Championships last month.

The Panthers return to action next week at the Drake Relays in Des Moines (Apr. 22-25), as well as at the Kip Janvrin Open, hosted by Simpson College in Indianola (Apr. 23-24).
