UNI Men’s golf wraps up first Spring tournament in California

PALM DESERT, Calif. --- The UNI Men's golf team finished their first tournament of the Spring season on Wednesday afternoon at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. The Panthers finished the three-day tournament in 21st place in the 23-team field, shooting 907 (+43). Colorado University brought home the team title with a score of 830 (-34), while Maryland's Emil Riegger clinched the tournament's individual title, carding a 206 (-10).
In round one on Monday, Calen Bishop led the Panthers, shooting a final score of 72 (E), shooting a 37 on the front nine and finishing with a 35 on the back nine. Tanner Dinnebier scored 75 (+3), carding two birdies and five bogeys. Cooper Hanson finished with a first-round score of 79 (+7), finishing the day strong with a 38 on the back nine. Nile Petersen shot a consistent first round with a 40 on the front and back nine, carding an 80 (+19). Freshman Anthony Galvin shot an 85 (+13) to finish the first day of the spring season.
The Panther men were led by Tanner Dinnebier in round two, where he shot a 71 (-1), with four birdies on day two. Calen Bishop finished round two with a score of 75 (+3), sinking three birdies. Anthony Galvin shot his best round of the tournament with a final score of 76 (+4). Nile Petersen shot a 78 (+6) and finished the back nine with a score of 36. Cooper Hanson rounded out day two with an 81 (+9) and five bogeys.
Calen Bishop led the Panther pack through the third round with a score of 72 (E), carding five birdies and sinking an eagle on hole 4 on the front nine. Tanner Dinnebier shot a 75 (+3) with an eagle on hole 14 on the back nine. Nile Petersen and Anthony Galvin both shot a score of 77 (+5), and each sank three birdies. Cooper Hanson carded an 81 (+9), shooting consistently with a 40 and 41 on day three, to round out the tournament for the Panthers.

The Panther men return to action March 9-10 at the Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State University at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Nevada.
