UNI men’s track and field tabbed as favorites for MVC indoor title

Panther women picked third in pre-championship poll. MVC Indoor Championships begin on Sunday in Indianapolis.
ST. LOUIS --- The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) on Tuesday announced the results of its pre-championship poll ahead of the start of this weekend's MVC Indoor Championships in Indianapolis on Sunday.
The poll, as voted on by the conference's head coaches, picked the UNI men to repeat as MVC indoor champions with six first-place votes and 93 total points. Indiana State was picked to finish second with three first-place votes and 88 total points on the men's side with Illinois State following in third with one first-place vote and 87 points.
On the women's side, the Northern Iowa women were selected to finish in third with 101 points, with Indiana State picked first with ten first-place votes and 120 points and Illinois State in second with one first-place vote and 106 points.
UNI enters the MVC Indoor Championships leading the conference in eight events, including 2025 NCAA All-American Carter Morton leading the MVC the heptathlon, high jump and long jump with Parker Kiewiet leading the league in the men's 200-meter dash. In women's action, the women's 4x400-meter relay team of Joey Perry, Jersey Jones, Emma Randecker and Darci Wiseman lead the conference as well, with Erica Miner leading in the pole vault, Josey Dunbar leading the long jump and Joey Perry the pentathlon.
The Panthers won a combined seven events at last year's MVC Indoor Championships in Chicago as the UNI men captured its record 15th indoor conference team title with the Panther women finishing in third.
