GREENWOOD, Ind. --- College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday released its track and field and cross country Academic All-District team members with ten Panthers being recognized.Â
The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic performances. Nominated student-athletes must be at least a sophomore of academic and athletic standing, must be enrolled in their respective institution for at least one full academic year, maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). Additionally, student-athletes must rank in the top-50 individually at their 2024 NCAA regional competition for cross country, or rank in the top-50 regionally in a single individual event for indoor and/or outdoor track action.
This year's all-district honorees from UNI include Chase Knoche, Hunter Manock, David Russell, Caleb Shumaker, Derek Woods, Kate Crawford, Emma Hoins, Eden Mueller, Joey Perry and Darci Wiseman.
Knoche, Russell, Shumaker and Hoins all qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Meet this spring, with Hoins notably breaking her own school record in April in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Shumaker also broke UNI's eight-kilometer men's cross country record in the fall, as Crawford set a new 6K career-best time at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. Manock captured the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) men's indoor 60-meter hurdles title, while Perry won the league's outdoor heptathlon crown. Mueller and Woods meanwhile both posted top-ten conference finishes in both mid-distance and distance races during the indoor and outdoor track seasons.
