UNI men’s and women's golf notch top-five finishes at the WIU Intercollegiate

SILVIS, Ill. --- The UNI men and women golf teams rounded out play at the WIU Intercollegiate on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Western Illinois University. The UNI women finished in second place behind North Dakota with their own Kylie Warner capturing the individual title.The UNI Men finished in fourth place, with Indian Hills CC claiming the team title and Chicago State's Payton Dunahee taking home the individual title.
The Panther ladies were led by Senior Victoria Hualde who finished in fourth place with a total score of 226 (+13), shooting her best round out the tournament in round 2 carding a 71. Hualde tallied six birdies and 15 bogeys. Anna Jensen finished right behind Hualde placing in fifth with a score of 228 (+15) with five birdies and 12 bogeys. Anna Nacos finished in sixth place with a score of 230 (+17) sinking seven birdies and 16 bogeys over the course of the two-day tournament.
Junior McKenna Mallow finished in a two-way tie for 16th place finishing the tournament strong with a last round score of 78. Isabella Pettersen placed 25th shooting a score of 252 (+39), shooting consistently with round scores of 85-85-82. Freshman Greenlee Smock finished in 33rd place in her collegiate debut with the Panthers, sinking a birdie and 22 bogeys.
On the men's side, Nile Petersen led the Panther men finishing in a tie for second place with a final score of 217 (+4). Petersen shot a new best round score with a 69 in round two and sinking eight birdies and 12 bogeys in his best finish of the season. JD Pollard finished in a tie for 15th place shooting a score of 224 (+11), shooting a round score of 76 in round two and three. Pollard carded six birdies and 13 bogeys. Connor VanWeelden placed in a tie for 20th with a final score of 228 (+15), shooting 74-78-76 in three rounds.
Tanner Dinnebier finished in a tie for 22nd place with a score of 229 (+16) with six birdies and 15 bogeys. Calen Bishop and Cooper Hanson finished in a five-way tie for 41st place, with both golfers shooting scores of 237 (+24), Bishop sank four birdies and 17 bogeys while Hanson carded four birdies and 16 bogeys, competing as an individual.

The Panther men and women return to action at the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships with the Panther ladies competing on April 13-15 in Waterloo, III at the Anbriar Golf Course and the UNI Men competing on April 20-22 in Des Moines, IA at the Des Moines Country Club.
