Panther track and field collects thirteen titles at the Jim Duncan Invitational

DES MOINES, Iowa --- A slew of Panthers were sent to Des Moines as they competed in the Jim Duncan Invitational, earning thirteen event winners and twenty-one career bests.
Carson Lineau, Alivia Silverstri, Brendan Safely and Justice Miller were all able to come home with golds in their respective field events.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Carson Lineau started off Friday's competition by winning the shot put, throwing for 18.66 meters, the fourth-longest throw in school history for the event. Alivia Silverstri and Brendan Safely both topped the podium after clearing 3.60m and 5.30m for the pole vault respectively. Competing for the Panthers in men's javelin was Justice Miller who threw for his career-best at 67.27 meters.
The Panther 4x100 was run by Hunter Manock, Jerome Jessup, Luke Meyers, and Deonte Dean as they finished in just 40.75 seconds. On the women's side it was Paige Kisley, Caroline Bendfedlt-Sorenson, Libby Wedewer and Jessica Kyne who also collected a first-place finish with 46.26 seconds. Kaylin Lacher walked away with a gold of her own after she completed the 1,500m in 4:39.94. In the high jump, Josie Moreland Rylie Todd dominated by clearing 1.74 meters earning a first and second place finish.
Paige Kisley and Hunter Manock went for gold as they completed the 100m and 110 meter hurdles in 14.16 and 14.17 seconds. Drake Hanson ran the 800m in 1:49.79 while Joey Perry competed in the 400m hurdles with a 1:00.60 time as they both ended with a first-place finish. Carter Accola, Drew Bartles, Jake Bosch, and Davis Brogan competed for the Panthers in the 4x400 as they won the event with a time of 3:12.45. Amelia Hill ran unattached and competed in the women's steeplechase as she won the event in 10:32.47.
UP NEXT
UNI returns to action tomorrow at the Mustang Distance Carnival and Open in Cedar Rapids, hosted by Mount Mercy University. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT at the Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex.
