UNI Men’s Golf kicks off it’s Spring Season in California

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI men's golf team will hit the links for the spring portion of their 2024-25 schedule in California as the Panthers head to the West Coast for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club Golf Course, hosted by the University of Wyoming.
The Panthers will begin the 54-hole tournament format with 18 holes played each day beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Monday.
Hosted by Wyoming on the 7,322-yard, par-72 course, fifteen teams make up the field. That list includes Charlotte, Drake, Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, South Dakota State, Cal Baptist, UC Santa Barbara, UTSA, Utah Tech, Northern Iowa, Tarleton State, Colorado Christian, Coastal Carolina and Wyoming.
The UNI men ended their fall season placing ninth as a team in the Throw Down Up Top in Homer, NE. Senior Connor Van Weelden led the Panthers placing in a 4-way tie for 10th place with a score of 218 (-1). Calen Bishop tied for 21st place at the Throw Down Up Top shooting a 223 (+4) to end their fall season.
Van Weelden shot a team-best average score of 72.1 per round in the fall, while Junior Calen Bishop was second for the Panthers with an average score of 73.8. JD Pollard averaged 74.0 a round, with UNI's lowest recorded round score of 67 in the first round of the Derek Dolenc Invitational. Sophomore Tanner Dinnebier averaged a score of 74.5 and Junior Nile Petersen finished the fall season with an average score of 75.3.
