UNI men’s golf team teed off its Spring season at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. --- UNI men's golf wrapped up its first tournament of the Spring season on Wednesday afternoon at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. The Panthers finished the competition in 15th place in the 15-team field while Colorado Christian's Xavier Bighaus clinched the tournament's individual title with a score of 204 (-12), while Charlotte brought home the team title with a score of 833 (-31).

In round one on Monday, JD Pollard led the Panthers shooting a final score of 73 (+1), sinking an eagle on hole 14 to finish tied for 46th place. Sophomore Tanner Dinnebier scored 75 (+3), carding four birdies and three bogeys to end up tied for 64th place. Connor VanWeelden scored a 77 (+5) placing in a tie for 76th place, while Calen Bishop shot a 83 (+11) finishing tied for 86th place. Brock Seiser shot a final score of 85 (+13) to finish round one for the Panthers.

The Panthers were led by Tanner Dinnebier in round two, where he shot a 73 (+1). JD Pollard finished round two with a score of 75 (+3), with both respective golfers placing in a tie for 59th place. Connor VanWeelden finished in a tie for 72nd place with a final score of 75 (+3) in round two. Calen Bishop carded a 78 (+6) with three bogeys, while Brock Seiser shot an 81 (+9) to finish Tuesday afternoon in 90th place.

UNI closed out the Wyoming Classic with JD Pollard leading the Panthers with a total score of 227 (+11), shooting a score of 79 (+7) in the third round and finishing in a two-way tie for 71st place. Connor VanWeelden shot a 76 (+4) placing him in a tie for 73rd place in the final round and carding a total score of 228 (+12). Tanner Dinnebier placed in a tie for 76th place shooting an 81 (+9) in the final round, while scoring a total of 229 (+9) over the three-day tournament. Junior Calen Bishop shot a 79 (+7) placing 88th in the third round while finishing with a total score of 240 (+24). Brock Seiser finished round three shooting a 92 (+20), placing 90th and finishing the Wyoming classic with a total score of 258 (+20).

The Panthers return to the links March 7-8 at the SDSU Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State University at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Nevada.
