CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI soccer player Denise Camarena will represent the university, as well as the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) at the 2025 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum.
The event, which will be held Nov. 20-23 in Dallas, Texas, was created in 1997 and has served as a life-changing experience for more than 5,000 NCAA student-athletes who have grown personally and professionally as a result of their attendance. Student-athletes selected to attend the forum return to campus with invaluable leadership skills, a refined understanding of the relationship among personal values, core beliefs and behavioral styles and the support of a close personal network of like-minded peers to provide continued connection and dialogue after the program concludes.
"Denise has been an awesome addition to our campus Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and is in her second year holding a leadership role on our executive team," said Andrea Greve Coello, UNI's Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development. "She adds value to our group and approaches these opportunities with intentionality and enthusiasm. I know Denise will gain valuable skills to bring back to her roles both on our campus and with the MVC. We're excited to have her selected to represent UNI and our conference at the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum!"
Camarena, who will be attending the forum with Indiana State baseball player Carson Seeman as MVC representatives, is in her junior season with the Panthers as a midfielder. The Riverside, California native has appeared in eight matches in 2025 with six starts, scoring one goal with two assists against Viterbo, while also netting a second goal against St. Ambrose this season.
