CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI cross country team will make the trip to Peoria this Friday to participate in the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course, its final event of the regular season prior to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships in two weeks.
Competition will begin at 12:45 p.m. CT with the Panthers set to run across three different races, beginning with the women's six-kilometer white race, followed by the men's eight-kilometer red race at 1:30 p.m. CT and the women's six-kilometer red race at 2:15 p.m. CT. In Northern Iowa's last outing two weeks ago, the Panther women took fifth place at the Dan Huston Invite in Waverly with five athletes competing. Liza Schaffer, who made her collegiate cross country debut, placed seventh in the 6K, while Sarah Fedderson in 11th place in a time of 23:02. Brooke O'Brien finished in 14th (23:09), Kayla Young in 39th (24:33) and Kaylin Lacher in 62nd, notching a new career-best 6K time(25:06).
Friday's meet will be the UNI men's first competition since its 23rd place finish at Missouri's Gans Creek Classic three weeks ago. Colin Lillie posted a career-best time of 24:59 and broke the 25-minute mark for the first time in his career, as Micah Rees followed in 166th with a career-best time of 25:16 and Ethan Olds in 174th with a time of 25:23.
