The Panthers lead the all-time series with a 36-30 record against the Purple Aces with ten straight home victories over Evansville dating back to the 2013-14 season. UNI split its two regular season matchups with Evansville last year with an early conference loss on the road and a seven-point home victory last January.
Northern Iowa has been riding a hot shooting hand this season, ranking first in all of Division I with a 51.9% shooting clip. UNI is also seventh nationally in effective field goal percentage (58.6%). Northern Iowa has shot over 50% in ten of its 17 games this year.
Head coach Ben Jacobson will also look to reach another milestone in his legendary UNI career as he goes for his 200th conference only win on Tuesday. Jacobson, the winningest coach in program history and second-winningest coach in the league's 118 year history, became the conference's all-time leader in league only wins last January with a home win over Southern Illinois.
The Panthers, currently sitting in a four-way tie for second place in the MVC standings, will look to keep pace with the first-place Bradley Braves after a stunning 85-84 comeback win at the buzzer to beat Illinois State at CEFCU Arena over the weekend. UNI, which trailed by as many as 12 points in the game, roared back thanks to a career performance by Trey Campbell with 30 points and eight made three pointers. Tytan Anderson would make the play of the game with the winning layup at the buzzer to give the Panthers the one-point win.
In addition to Campbell's career game, Anderson recorded 14 points with seven rebounds and a season-high seven assists, with Ben Schwiger also registering 14 points. Max Weisbrod tied his season-high with three made three-point shots for nine points, with Jacob Hutson scoring eight points.
Anderson, the MVC's leader in made free throws (76) and attempts (106) who looks to continue climbing the program's top-ten all-time steals list, leads UNI with 14.6 points per game and a team-high 6.2 rebounds a game on 57.6% shooting. Anderson will also be continuing his chase to become just the fourth player in program history to record 1,000 points, 700 rebounds and 200 assists in a UNI career, looking to join Seth Tuttle (2011-15), Eric Coleman (2004-08) and Don Lemons (1975-79).
Hutson, who joined UNI's 500 career point club last week, has notched 12.2 points and 3.5 rebounds, while Campbell has posted 11.5 points and a team-high 52 assists. Leon Bond III has tallied 11.4 points a game in his first season with Northern Iowa with a 60.5% shooting clip, as Schwieger, who is 45 points shy of his 1,000th career point, has put up 9.7 points and four boards per game as a starter in the the Panther lineup in the last nine contests. Freshman Will Hornseth, who made his first career start last week against Murray State meanwhile is shooting 37-of-50 on the year (74%).
