UNI tennis: Panthers drop home duals to Redbirds, Braves

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI tennis team kicked off a three-match homestand to begin the final stretch of the regular season over the weekend, dropping home duals to Illinois State (7-0) and Bradley (6-1) at the UNI Tennis Courts, the first home meet the Panthers have played outdoors this year.
Starting off the weekend on Saturday against the Redbirds, Andrijana Brkic put up a tough challenge in the top singles matches, battling Tijana Zlatanovic with a first-set win before falling in three sets (3-6, 7-5, 10-5). Darta Dalecka nearly forced a third set in her singles match against Lana Caculovic, but ultimately fell in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).
In Sunday morning's matchup with the Braves, UNI managed to grab a pair of wins on the day as Lorena Cardoso and Dalecka won the top doubles match with a 6-1 victory over Bradley's Kirstin Haley and Andra Sirbu. Dalecka also picked up a win in singles play with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Anna Belogliadova.
UP NEXT
UNI will close out the 2023-24 season on Saturday, April 20 as it hosts the Belmont Bruins in its final dual of the year. Competition will be held at the UNI Tennis Courts in Cedar Falls with a start time to be determined.
