UNI track & field announces 2024 outdoor competition schedule

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI track and field has released its schedule for the 2024 outdoor season featuring twelve competitions, including five in the state of Iowa.
The Panthers will open the outdoor season in late March with a two-day showing at the Redbird Challenge at Illinois State, March 29-30 before making the first out of five in-state event appearances April 5-6 at the Wartburg Outdoor Select at Walston-Hoover Stadium in Waverly. Northern Iowa will also send that same weekend to the USD Early Bird in Vermillion, South Dakota.
In mid-April, the Panthers will travel to the blue oval for the first of two trips during the outdoor season at the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines on April 12, while also sending athletes to compete at the Gary Wieneke Memorial at Demirjian Park on April 13, hosted by the University of Illinois.
To close out April, the purple and gold pack their bags for the Musco Twilight in Coralville, Iowa on April 20. The following weekend, the Panthers return to the Drake Stadium for the 114th running of the historic Drake Relays at Drake Stadium, April 27. Other UNI athletes will travel to Indianola, Iowa for Simpson College's Kip Janvrin Open, April 25-26. May kicks off with a visit to Madison, Wisconsin for the Badger Invite on May 3 for a one day showing, ahead of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Outdoor Championships held at the Gibson Track & Field Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana, May 10-12.
The NCAA West Preliminary Round is scheduled to take place on May 22-25 at John McDonnell Field on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville, while the NCAA Outdoor Championships are slated to return to historic Hayward Field in Eugene Oregon, June 5-8.
