CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI men's golf will tee off an active first week of October beginning on Monday with a three-day stretch of competition at both the Big O Classic in Elkhorn, Nebraska, as well as a dual with the Drake Bulldogs in West Des Moines, Iowa on Oct. 4.
The Panther men are set to play at 8:30 a.m. CT on Monday morning with a 36-hole shotgun start followed by a 9 a.m. tee time 18-hole round on Tuesday morning at the Indian Creek Golf Course just outside of Omaha. Wednesday's dual against Drake will take place at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club. Specific tee times for individuals have yet to be announced.
Last year, the Panthers took a tenth place finish among 14 teams shooting 891 (+28) at Indian Creek, a par-72 course playing at 7,600 yards. UNI will be competing against hosts Omaha along with 13 other schools including Wichita State, Creighton and North Dakota.
UNI will have a challenge in hand when facing Drake on Wednesday. The Bulldogs took eighth place at the Zach Johnson Invitational earlier this week, while UNI took tenth.
Griffin Parker who is averaging a score of 72.33 per round through three meets this fall, tied for 26th in his last tournament at the Zach Johnson Invitational. Jack Moody has averaged 75.33 per round, and JD Pollard has averaged 75.55 per round whilst setting a career-low 68 in his third round of the Zach Johnson Invitational.
