INDIANAPOLIS --- Former UNI offensive lineman Matthew Vanderslice has been signed by the Indianapolis Colts, as announced during the Colts' roster transactions on Monday afternoon.
The signing comes after Vanderslice participated in the Colts' rookie minicamp over the weekend as an undrafted free agent. Indianapolis also signed a pair of undrafted free agent wide receivers in Tyler Adams (Butler) and Kody Case (Illinois) on Monday, as well as defensive tackle Jamal Woods (Illinois).
A native of Olathe, Kansas, Vanderslice appeared in 41 games for the Panthers over the past six seasons. Playing a key role as a leader blocker up front, the 2022 UNI offense led the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) in passing yards, total offense, passing efficiency and third down conversion percentage, while posting the nation's 16th-best offense with 444.9 yards per game.
Â
During UNI's Pro Day in March, Vanderslice notched 20 reps on the 225-pound bench press, and recorded a 5.35 second time in the 40-yard dash, as well as a 4.89 second mark in the shuttle drill.
Â
Vanderslice was named the MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week this past October for his role in UNI's upset win over No. 20 Southern Illinois, 37-36, where the Panthers scored four first half touchdowns with 461 yards of total offense in the game. A standout in the classroom, he was also named to the MVFC Honor Roll for the fall 2021 season, and named a recipient of the MVFC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.
Â
Matthew is the son of Rick and Bev Vanderslice, and older brother of Jake and Zach.
