
Griffin Parker earns third consecutive MVC Scholar-Athlete honor

ST. LOUIS --- UNI's golfer Griffin Parker has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) Scholar-Athlete First Team, as announced by the league office on Friday morning.

Honorees are recognized for maintaining at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA), while also participating in a minimum of 50% of competitions on the season, or having played in the MVC Championships. Award winners must also have completed at least one full calendar year at their respective institution.

Parker, a senior from Waukee, Iowa, earns the honor for a third consecutive year, becoming the first Panther men's golfer to earn the award three times in their collegiate career. Competing in all 11 of UNI's tournaments this season, Parker averaged 74.07 per round with a team-high 28 rounds of 70 and low-round of 68.

Parker shined for the Panthers during the spring portion of the 2022-23 season, finishing in the top-20 individually in his final five tournaments. He ended the season with five top-ten finishes, including a third-place finish at Stampede At The Creek, a tie for sixth at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational, a tie for eighth at the WIU Invite and a pair of tenth place ties at the Missouri State Intercollegiate and MVC Championships.
