CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI women's golf tees off its spring schedule beginning Monday morning as the Panthers head south for the UTRGV Invitational in McAllen, Texas at the McAllen Country Club.Â
The Panthers will play a 36-hole shotgun beginning Monday, followed by an 18-hole round on Tuesday. Tee times have yet to be announced.
Playing on a par 71 course measured at 5,159 yards, UNI will be part of a 15-team field including two programs from the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) in Drake and Indiana State. Other teams include Creighton, Houston Christian and Texas Southern.Â
Making their debut at UTRGV Invitational, the Panthers are looking to continue building with their young roster following an active fall schedule. UNI placed 9th out of a 12-team field in their final fall outing at the Ozarks National Invitational this past November at Missouri State. Freshman McKenna Mallow led the way for the Panthers by shooting a 218 (+3).
Anna Jensen shot a team-best average of 78.5 per round in the fall with a low round score of 74 at Missouri State at the end of the fall. Anna Nacos averaged 80.6 a round in 11 rounds earlier this season, while Mallow carded an 80.8 average with UNI's lowest recorded round score of 69 in the final round of the Ozarks National Invitational.
