UNI golf: Parker, Van Weelden post top-20 performances at Bobby Nichols

SEVIERVILLE. TENN —- UNI's Griffin Parker and Connor Van Weelden posted a pair top-20 finishes as the Panthers wrapped up play at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon at the Sevierville Golf Course. The Panthers took 7th place overall on the men's side, while the women's team took 14th.
Parker and Van Weelden tied for 17th overall notching a total score of 221 (+5). Parker finished with a first round score of 72 (E) on Sunday in UNI's first men's tournament of the spring season, while Van Weelden's third round score of 72 tied his season-best.
Tommy Doyle tied for 51st after carding two rounds of 78 (+6) and a final round score of 72 for a total of 229 (+13). Thomas Storbeck finished in a tie for 64th, shooting 74 (+2), 82 (+10) and 79 (+7) for a total 235 (+19). JD Pollard tied for 67th with a 236 (+20).
Nile Petersen competed individually, shooting a 74, 77 (+5), and 79 for a total score of 230 (+14), tying for 55th. Jack Moody and Brandon McCarty both tied for 79th shooting a total score of 246 (+30) as individual competitors.
On the women's side, Anna Nacos led the way for the Panthers tying for 36th place with rounds scores of 76 (+5), 78 and 83 (+12) for a total score of 237 (+22). Victoria Hualde Zúñiga shot a 242 (+26) to tie for 46th, while Rylie Driskell tied for 63rd place, shooting 82 (+21) in the first two rounds.
McKenna Mallow took 70th place (256), as Anna Jensen tied for 77th (256), carding a 261. Madison Humke played as an individual, tying for 71st after shooting an 87, 82 and 88 over the three-day event for a final score of 261.
UP NEXT
The UNI men return to the golf course next week, March 21-22 at the Missouri State Intercollegiate in Springfield. The Panther women will return to the links alongside the UNI men on April 3-4 at the WIU Invite.
