CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI men's golf will travel to Newton, Kansas for the final tournament of the fall portion of its 2023-24 beginning Monday at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational, hosted by Wichita State University.
The Panthers will begin play at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning with a two-round, 36-hole shotgun start, followed by a 8:30 a.m. 18-hole round on Tuesday morning.
At last year's edition of the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational the Panthers finished third overall in a field of ten teams with Griffin Parker finishing in a tie for sixth place after carding a 215 (-1). UNI will compete alongside another field of ten teams, including Oklahoma State, Drake, Abilene Christian and Missouri State on the par-72, 7,200 yard course.
Freshman Tanner Dinnebier will look to improve after a strong showing on Wednesday in a dual against Drake, where he topped the field in the two-round meet with a 136 (-8) and a career-best round of 65 in the second round. Parker meanwhile led UNI earlier in the week at the Big O Classic in Nebraska, carding a 222 to tie for 18th place.
Parker ranks first among UNI golfers this season with a 73.07 per round average and a low-round of 68, while JD Pollard sits on a 75.57 average for the year.
