CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI Athletics, in partnership with its student-athlete leadership groups, will hold its fourth annual UNIty walk on the morning of Monday, Oct. 10.
The event is open to all UNI students, staff and faculty members, as well as community members. This year's walk will begin at 6:30 a.m. CT at the south entrance of the McLeod Center and end on the field directly west of the campanile.
"We're looking forward to our fourth annual UNIty Walk this Monday," said Andrea Greve-Coello, UNI's Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development and Inclusion. "This student-led, student-focused initiative has become a time for our entire department to come together and focus on things bigger than each of us as individuals, and this year is no different. This is one of the few times we get to be together in one place each year, and is a good reminder for all of us to look up and look out to recognize the needs of others and be reminded of the power of unity in meeting those needs greater than ourselves!"
Established in the fall of 2020, the UNIty Walk has served as a reminder of the importance of inclusion and community, and has become a space for UNI student-athletes, coaches and staff to learn from and support one another. This walk was started by student-athlete leaders, and continues to be supported by leadership groups within the department, including the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the Women of Athletics Leadership Committee (WALC), the Minority Student-Athlete Leadership Committee (MSALT) and Morgan's Message at UNI.
