
Panther swim & dive: Larsen, Finke pick up wins in duals against Iowa State and West Virginia

UNI closes out dual season with a 12-4 record, tied for the most in program history.

ÂAMES, Iowa --- UNI swim and dive won two events on Saturday morning as the Panthers wrapped up the dual portion of their 2022-23 schedule with a triangular meet against the Iowa State Cyclones and West Virginia Mountaineers at the Beyer Hall Pool.
Faith Larsen won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.59 seconds, while also taking 6th place overall in the 100-yard freestyle (52.82). Amber Finke took home first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a winning time of 2:03.32. Finke also tied for 3rd place in the 100-yard backstroke with Iowa State's Madi Dohm after clocking a 56.59 second time.
Hallory Domnick notched a 4th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.07) and took 6th place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.43. Olivia Chambers also earned a pair of top-8 finishes in the distance freestyle, taking 5th in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:38.40) and 7th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.60). Morgan Meyer took home 7th place in 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.52 in her first time competing in the event in her collegiate career.
Sydney Aird finished 6th overall in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.65), while also taking 7th place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.72). Aird also competed in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 8th place after clocking a time of 2:13.38.
Scout Bergwall notched a 4th place result after posting a 57.78 second time in the 100-yard butterfly. Bergwall also took home 6th place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.14.
Both UNI relays clocked top-4 finishes, beginning with the 200-yard medley relay team of Finke, Aird, Bergwall and Larsen, who took 3rd place with a time of 1:46.00. Larsen, Finke, Domnick and Natalia Verastegui teamed up for a 4th place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:32.56).
In the diving well, Taylor Hogan led the Panthers in both the one and three-meter springboard action. Hogan took 2nd place and scored a career-best of 270.70 points on the one-meter boards, posting the 6th highest score in one-meter competition in UNI history and securing a spot in the NCAA Diving Zones. Maddie Moran also etched out a new career-best on the one-meter boards with 242.65 points in 9th place. Hogan scored a 270.45 to finish in 5th place in three-meter competition, while Moran took 9th place with a score of 244.95.

The Panthers return to action Feb. 3-4 as the swimmers head to Sioux Falls for the Coyote Invite at the Midco Aquatics Center. UNI divers will visit the Omaha Diving Invite meanwhile in Nebraska at the H&K Pool.
