The Missouri Valley Football Conference reveals 2023 and 2024 league slates

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Missouri Valley Football Conference has announced dates and matchups in league play for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

League members will play eight conference games each year. There will be 12 MVFC institutions in 2023 with the addition of Murray State. While the conference cannot play a full round robin each season, it should be noted that every MVFC institution plays every other MVFC institution at least two-thirds of the time in a six-year cycle (at least four out of every six seasons), supporting continuation of league identity and increasing competitive fairness over time.

In the next two seasons, UNI will not play Murray State, South Dakota or Southern Illinois.

Staff had considered multiple options, including divisional play, four-team pods and a true rotation, before arriving at the current model, which utilizes agreed-upon scheduling principles, including maximizing bus trips to the greatest extent possible and protecting rivalries.

Game dates for each MVFC institution accommodated facility and nonconference scheduling conflicts.

Sept. 30 - vs. Youngstown State
Oct. 7 - at Indiana State
Oct. 14 - at South Dakota State
Oct. 21 - vs. North Dakota
Oct. 28 - at Illinois State
Nov. 4 - vs. Western Illinois
Nov. 11 - at Missouri State
Nov. 18 - vs. North Dakota State

MVFC games for UNI in 2024:

Oct. 5 - at North Dakota
Oct. 12 - vs. South Dakota State
Oct. 19 - vs. Illinois State
Oct. 26 - at Western Illinois
Nov. 2 - at Youngstown State
Nov. 9 - vs. Indiana State
Nov. 16 - at North Dakota State
Nov. 23 - vs. Missouri State

UPCOMING FAN EVENTS

UNI Panther fans are invited to celebrate the fall season with a kickoff event at the Doug & Ann Goschke Outdoor Practice Facility starting at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 19.

This free, family-friendly event is open to the public. The Doug & Ann Goschke Outdoor Practice Facility is located just north of the UNI-Dome west of the gravel parking lot on campus.

It will include free food for fans and prize drawings. Beer will be sold on site, and fall sport posters will be available.

UNI's youngest fans will be treated to a multi-sport clinic led by Panther student-athletes from football, volleyball and soccer. The clinic is free, but youths from kindergarten through eighth grade are encouraged to sign up. Register by clicking here.
