EUGENE, Ore. - Tom Yezek earned Second Team All-America honors with a 14th-place finish in discus at the 2022 NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships.

Yezek opened with a throw of 52.68 meters (172 feet, 10 inches). He improved on his second attempt with a throw of 56.82 meters (186-5). He scratched on his third throw.

His career best throw of 58.21 meters (191-0) came in the last meet of the 2022 regular season, putting him third on UNI's all-time list for best discus throws in program history.

This was his first appearance at the NCAA championships. He competed in the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in 2022, 2021, 2018, 2017.

At the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Championships, he was second in discus to teammate King, who earned his fourth All-America honor at the championships. On Wednesday, King took fifth place in shot put with a throw of 20.04 meters (65 feet, 9 inches).

King is the first Panther to earn Division I first team all-America honors in shot put. It was his fourth All-America honor. UNI did have multiple Panthers earn Division II honors, including Mike McCready, who won in 1971. Justin Baker competed in shot put in 2015, taking 20th. Justin Romero was 19th in shot put in 2012.
