UNI women's tennis gets win at No. 1 doubles, falls to Valpo

VALPARAISO, Ind. - The UNI women's tennis team snagged a win at No. 1 doubles, but it wasn't enough to defeat Valparaiso.Â
Valpo took the other two wins at doubles to secure the team point and defeat UNI, 7-0.Â
UNI now falls to 4-10 overall and 0-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Valpo is now 9-9 overall and 1-1 in the MVC.Â
Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso defeated Valpo's Olivia Czerwonka and Claire Czerwonka, 6-4 at the No. 1 doubles spot.Â
At No. 4 singles, Andrijana Brkic took Demi Jhaveri to tiebreakers, but Jhaveri eventually won, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1).Â
Thaissa Moreira opened her No. 5 singles match with a win and took her opponent into tiebreakers, but Valpo's Mia Bertino pulled out the victory, winning 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-6.

UNI returns home for its next two matches, hosting Bradley at 11 a.m. April 9 and Illinois State 10 a.m. April 10. Outdoor games are held at the UNI tennis courts on campus near the Nielsen Fieldhouse. In the chance that weather pushes the matches indoors, the meets are held at the Black Hawk Tennis Club in Waterloo.ÂSingles competition
