UNI women's tennis ends MVC Championship run to Bradley, 4-2

DES MOINES, Iowa - The UNI women's tennis team closed out wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles but fell to Bradley in the quarterfinals of the MVC Championships, 4-2.
Matches were moved indoors to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on the campus of Drake University.

The Braves earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles match was abandoned at 6-6.

The Braves were aggressive early in singles, jumping out to 3-0 lead with wins at No. 6 singles and No. 3 singles.Â

The Panthers responded by picking up consecutive wins at the top two singles spots. Darta Dalecka earned her third consecutive win beating Bonzana Lojpur of Bradley 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Dalecka finished with a singles record of 9-6 this year.Â
She combined with teammate Lorena Cardoso in doubles to go 8-8 on the season. Cardoso added another point for the Panthers with her third consecutive win at No. 2 singles.Â
Cardoso dropped the first set to Kristin Hailey 6-3 before she took the next two sets 7-6 and 6-2 to pull the Panthers within one point of the Braves. Cardoso ends the season with an overall record of 6-12. Â

Nina Marjanovic edged out UNI's Thaissa Moreira 6-3, 6-7 (4) 6-4 at No. 5 singles to send Bradley to tomorrow's semifinals.
