CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Weather and field conditions have canceled the first spring game for UNI women's soccer.
UNI was set to open the spring season this Friday on the UNI campus. The Panthers will host Upper Iowa at 7 p.m. April 6. The game is set to take place in the UNI-Dome.
UNI will hit the road for just one exhibition this spring.
The Panthers return Siri Ott, who was named to the MVC all-tournament team in the 2021 fall season. She also earned a spot on the MVC All-Freshman team.
Sophomore forward Lauren Heinsch, who was named to the all-conference second team, also returns.
This fall the UNI women's soccer team won the MVC Fair Play Award, the honor given annually to the team in the MVC with the fewest penalty cards per match in league games. UNI was only assessed 3 yellow cards throughout the 2021 fall season. None of the 3 yellow cards were assessed during conference play.
UNI will have five Panthers return for their senior year, 11 sophomores and six juniors. Jaylie Hicklin also will join the Panthers for the spring season after having competed her freshman season for Grand Canyon University.
Head coach Bruce Erickson promoted Jami Reichenberger to a full-time assistant and has added Kyle Nelson to the coaching staff.
