CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI wrestling advanced four Panthers after the first session of the Division I NCAA Wrestling Championships and finished the first session in tied for fifth place.Â
Lance Runyon opened his first NCAA appearance with a fall over the wrestler who defeated him at the Big 12 Championships for the bronze at 165 pounds.Â
Kyle Biscoglia tacked on a second fall, and Parker Keckeisen notched his sixth consecutive major decision to bring his win streak to 15 consecutive matches.Â
UNI rolled through its first four matches before suffering its first loss. Derek Holschlag and Tyrell Gordon won their pigtail matches to face the No. 1 seeds in their second matches before being bumped to consolations.Â
"We got everyone back and ready to wrestle tonight, and we are going to make a lot of hay on the backside," said head coach Doug Schwab. "All eight are alive, and now it's time to get fueled up and get ready for the match tonight and score a whole bunch of points again."Â
