UNI men's golf opens 2022 spring season with third-place finish, Panther in top 10

TUCSON - The UNI men's golf team opened its spring 2022 season with a third-place team finish and a Panther in the top 10 of the final standings.
The spring season opener was a two-day event hosted by Valparaiso University at the Dove Mountain Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona.
On the individual side, UNI's Jack Moody finished the first round with an overall score of 92 and was tied for 39th. Arizona State's Jose Luis Ballester led in the individual standings after day 1 with a score of 69.
The Panthers rounded out the final two rounds of the tournament with an overall team score of 938, finishing in third place out of the five schools. Storbeck continued his strong performance, leading UNI with a tournament score of 231, as he shot 75 and 81 in rounds two and three, respectively. Parker and Reeves both ended with 235, with Doyle closely following at 237 and Bermel shooting 262 for the three rounds. North Dakota State finished in first with a team score of 906 and Valparaiso came in second with 913. Bradley took a fourth-place finish with a team score of 965 and Chicago State rounded out the five participating schools with a score of 1015.
Moody had two solid rounds following the first day, shooting 81 and 82 in rounds two and three. He finished with an overall individual score of 255 over the tournament. Ballester took the individual top-finish with a final score of 212.
The Panthers will compete in the South Dakota State Invite at the Boulder Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada, from March 11-12.
