
UNI women's basketball finishes home stand with Evansville matchup

UNI women's basketball vs. Evansville
After going three for three last week, the Panther women's basketball team hopes to make it a perfect four for four home stand against the Aces. Currently riding the longest active win streak in the Valley at five games, UNI will need to stay on top of their defense to beat one of the better teams in the conference on the offensive glass.Tuesday's game against Evansville is a rescheduled game from Friday, Dec. 30. Tipoff from the McLeod Center is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.Â
THE PANTHERS:
- The Panthers hold the longest win streak in the Valley after going 3-0 last week at home to have five straight wins. UNI has one more game at home in the 4-game home stand before hitting the road for the weekend.
- Senior point guard Karli Rucker continues her ascent up the all-time lists in Panther history. With 14 points against Valparaiso, Rucker moved into 4th in career scoring among all UNI women's basketball players. Rucker moved past Diane Roberts for the honor who played for the Panthers from 1984-1988.
- Senior forward Bre Gunnels continues to climb the national rankings in blocks and blocks per game. At 38 blocks on the season and 1.81 blocks per game, Gunnels is 41st and 47th in the nation respectively while 3rd and 2nd in the MVC in the two categories.
- Freshman forward/center Grace Boffeli was a leader on both sides of the ball in the past week. With two double-doubles and an 18 rebound game, Boffeli leads the MVC in rebounds per game, defensive rebounds, and field goal percentage. She is one of only two MVC players to lead in more than one statistical category and was named the MVC Player of the Week.Â
THE ACES:
- Evansville comes to Cedar Falls on the end of a three-game road trip that included stops at Bradley and Illinois State. The Aces have lost both contests on the road so far and will be ready to aggressively guard the Panthers to get back in the winning column.Â
- This will be the Aces 60th overall matchup with the Panthers and their 29th in Cedar Falls. In those 60 games, the Aces have come out on top 19 times with the most recent being on Feb. 8 2014 at the Meeks Family Fieldhouse.Â
- Evansville is led by junior guard/forward combo Abby Feit on the court. Feit is a powerhouse on both sides of the glass averaging 16 points and 9.9 rebounds a game. She also leads the MVC in double-doubles with 11 recorded on the year so far.
