
UNI swimming: Larsen matches career-best at U.S. Open Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- UNI sophomore sprinter Faith Larsen became the first Panther in program history to compete in a U.S. Open final on Thursday, swimming the 50-meter freestyle at the Toyota U.S. Open Championships in North Carolina.
Larsen, competing in a rare in-season national meet in a long course pool, tied her career-best in Thursday's preliminary heat with a time of 26.25, qualifying for the C-final. In the C-final, Larsen swam a 26.53 for an eighth place finish.
Addison Sauickie of the Sarasota Sharks Swim Club (FL) took first in the C-final with a time of 25.90, as Annam Olaswere of Staples High School (CT) won the B-final in 25.50. Louisville sprinter Gabu Albiero claimed the open title in the A-final with a time of 25.06.

UNI will see another athlete featured on the national stage later this month as Olivia Chambers competes at the U.S. Paralympic Swimming National Championships in Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 16-18.
The Panthers return as a team in January to dual competition as UNI hosts Illinois State in a two-day meet, Jan. 13-14 at the Wellness-Recreation Center in Cedar Falls.
