CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI sophomore Faith Larsen will represent the purple and gold on the national stage on Thursday as Panther divers stay in state for consecutive days of competition.
ÂFAITH LARSEN - U.S. Open | 50-Meter Freestyle
One of UNI's standout sprinters, Larsen will compete at the Toyota U.S. Open Championships in Greensboro, N.C. on Thursday in the 50-meter freestyle in a rare in-season opportunity to compete in a long course event. Larsen enters Thursday's preliminaries seeded 29th out of 56Â swimmers with a long course time of 26.25. Other notable swimmers in the 50-meter freestyle include Olympic medalists Abbey Weitzel, along with fellow MVC sprinter Chloe Farro of Indiana State. Larsen enters the U.S. Open with the fastest time in the 50-yard freestyle in the MVC, posting a time of 22.96 in her last outing at the Kansas Classic.
ÂDIVING at Hawkeye Invite
UNI divers take center stage at the Campus Recreation-Wellness Center in Iowa City for two days of competition in both one and three-meter springboard competition. The Panthers will face off against divers from six other programs, including Iowa, Illinois, Rutgers, Nebraska and Iowa State.
Taylor Hogan, the reigning Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Diver of the Year leads the Panthers with the top scores in both the one and three meter competitions with 246.30 and 268.58 points respectively. Freshman Erica Peters recorded a season-high score of 241.15 in the one-meter springboard at the MVC Preview in Chicago back in October, while Abby Hutchins notched a score of 234.40 in the Windy City.
