
McKenna Mallow earns MVC Women's Golfer of the Week honors

Detroit Lakes, Minn. native earns first career honor after tying for first place in fall finale
ST. LOUIS --- UNI freshman McKenna Mallow has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon. The selection is the first collegiate honor of her career.
Mallow finished in a three-way tie for first place at the Ozarks National Invitational on Wednesday in Hollister, Mo. after sinking seven birdies in the final round of play. The Detroit Lakes, Minn. native carded a 75 (+3) in Monday's opening round before shooting a 74 (+2) on Tuesday. Mallow tied for the top spot on the leaderboard alongside Wichita State's Mackenzie Wilson and South Dakota's Akari Hayashi with a total score of 218 (+2).
Mallow's third round score of 69 set a new career-best and helped the Panthers secure a 9th place finish overall out of 12 teams in their final meet of the fall season. Her season round average entering the spring season now sits at 80.81.
A three-time all-conference golfer at Detroit Lakes High School, Mallow finished fourth at the 2022 Minnesota State Championships. She is the daughter of Tim and Linda Mallow, and is currently majoring in communication disorders.
