GREENWOOD, Ind. --- Five members of the UNI football team have been selected to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday. Linebacker Spencer Cuvelier, defensive lineman Jack Kriebs, offensive linemen Justin Peine and Erik Sorensen and wide receiver Logan Wolf all earned recognition for their academic success in the classroom this fall.
Nomination criteria include a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better, sophomore standing or higher both academically and athletically, and a key role in the lineup with participation in at least half of all scheduled team competitions. All persons that garner Academic All-District recognition are eligible for Academic All-America honors.
Cuvelier, a native of Cresco, Iowa, played in all 11 games for UNI this fall, leading the Panthers in total tackles (90). The redshirt senior carries a 3.62 cumulative GPA and is majoring in business financial investments and real estate. Cuvelier previously earned MVFC All-Academic honorable mention honors during the fall 2021 season, and was also selected to the league's Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award and the MVFC Honor Roll.
Kriebs, a redshirt freshman from Ankeny, Iowa earns his second career academic award after being honored with the MVFCÂ Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award and MVFC Honor Roll last season. With a 3.50 GPA, Kriebs is currently majoring in movement and exercise science at UNI.
Hailing from Parker, Kansas, Peine earns his first career honor from College Sports Communicators with a 3.50 cumulative GPA while majoring in movement and exercise science. Peine has played in all 11 games for the Panthers this fall, and was named the MVFC's Offensive Lineman of the Week back on Oct. 18.
A movement and exercise science major from Waukee, Iowa, Sorensen also earns his first College Sports Communicators honor after posting a 3.57 GPA. Starting all 11 games for UNI's offensive line, Sorensen picked up MVFC academic recognition with the Commissioner's Academic Excellence award and the conference honor roll. Sorensen is also a two-time MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week this season, earning the honor on Sept. 13 and Oct. 24.
Cedar Falls native Logan Wolf concluded his redshirt junior season after recording a 3.96 GPA this season while studying personal wealth financial management.
