
UNI football: Theo Day named MVFC Co-Offense Player of the Week

Panther quarterback earns first career honor from MVFC after career performance at South Dakota
ST. LOUIS --- UNI quarterback Theo Day has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's (MVFC) Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. The honor is the first conference award of Day's career.
The selection comes following an impressive performance in UNI's season finale at South Dakota on Saturday, where the redshirt junior accounted for a career-best 6 touchdowns (5 passing and one rushing) in the Panthers' 58-14 win over the Coyotes. Day also recorded a career-high 380 passing yards in the 44-point victory, connected with 5 different receivers on all 5 of his career-high tying touchdown passes.
Having started at quarterback in all 11 games this season for UNI, Day led the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) in passing yards (3,121), yards per pass attempt (9.6), pass efficiency (169), passing touchdowns (26), passing yards per game (283.7) and total offense (289.7). He also ranks 7th in the nation in total passing yards, as well as 8th passing touchdowns.
A native of Canton, Mich. and a transfer from Michigan State, Day is the son of Jim and Marilyn Day. He is currently majoring in public policy.
