King Finishes Seventh at the NCAA Championships

EUGENE, ORE. – UNI shot-putter Darius King recorded a toss of 19.69m to place seventh overall and earn USTFCCCA First-Team All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. on Wednesday.
King's performance at the NCAA Championships closed out a strong outdoor season for the graduate student. On April 17, he set a new UNI outdoor shot put record, notching a personal-best of 20.14m at the Gibson Invitational. At the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships on May 14-16, King clinched the shot put title with a toss of 20.08m and earned bronze medals in the discus (52.72m) and javelin (56.53, PR). He earned All-Conference accolades in all three events and was named Men's Most Outstanding Field Athlete. King punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships with another toss of 20.08m in the shot put at the NCAA West Preliminary Round on May 26.
