UNI Softball To Take On Valparaiso

Cedar Falls, Iowa - UNI Softball will host Valparaiso Apr. 10 – Apr. 11 at Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex. Saturday's double header first pitches will be thrown at 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm CT. The Valparaiso has an overall record of 5-18 and 1-8 in the MVC. The Panthers sit with an overall record of 15-13 and 6-3 in Missouri Valley Conference play.

The Panthers went 3-0 on the weekend (Apr. 2 - Apr. 3) against the Purple Aces of Evansville pushing their MVC record to 6-3.
Saturday's games against Valparaiso will not be streamed on ESPN3, only Sunday's single game.

- Senior Shortstop Sammey Bunch was named MVC Player of the Week after posting a 1.000 batting average and a 2.750 slugging percentage over three games against the Purple Aces of Evansville. Bunch went 4-for-4 with two home runs, one double, eight RBI's, scored nine runs, tagged eleven bases, and drew six walks for the Panthers. Bunch's career numbers continue to rise, including 51 home runs, 157 RBI's, and has scored 175 times.
- Sophomore Third Baseman Brooke Snider was named the MVC Newcomer of the Week following her 5-for-10 weekend, posting a .500 batting average and 1.300 slugging percentage in three games against the Purple Aces of Evansville. Snider also recorded two home runs, two doubles, seven RBI's, scored five runs, and tagged a team high thirteen bases for the Panthers. Snider led the way for UNI in game two of Friday's double header going 3-for-3 including one home run and one double. She also tallied two RBI's and scored two runs.
- Sophomore Pitcher Kailyn Packard posted a 1.00 ERA while going 2-0 over the span of two games against Evansville moving her season record to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference. Packard threw a total of nine innings due to both being stopped by the end of the 5th inning. The Sophomore struck out a total of fifteen batters, walked four, gave up six hits, and only one earned run. In game two of Friday's double header, Packard threw four innings striking out the side four consecutive time sitting down twelve Purple Aces batters and only walked one.
