UNI Softball Finishes The Weekend With A Win Against Bradley

Cedar Falls, Iowa – UNI softball finished the weekend beating Bradley 14-6 in five innings on Sunday, April 25th. The Panthers went 2-1 against the Braves in the weekend series and improved their record to 24-16 and 13-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Panthers scored fourteen runs on 13 hits and committed zero errors.
UNI got on the board early scoring four runs in the 1st inning when Adara Opiola, Daryn Lamprecht, and Kamryn Shaffer all homered. Opiola and Shaffer's home runs were both solo shots. Emmy Wells hit a double to left center field, one batter later Daryn Lamprecht hit a home run scoring wells from second. In the 2nd inning Sammey Bunch hit a two run home run to make the score 6-0. Bradley fought back pushing four of their own runs in the top of the 3rd inning making the score 6-4. The Panthers pushed two more runs across in the bottom of the 3rd inning to make it 7-4. The Braves would answer once again scoring two runs in the top of the 4th making the score 7-6. UNI began to pull away in the bottom of the 5th scoring seven runs and ending the game 14-6.
In the circle, Kailyn Packard pitched two and a half innings and picked up the win (16-5). Packard gave up four hits, four earned runs, and struck out three. Erica Oler came in to pitch the remainder of the game. Oler only gave up two hits, two earned runs, and struck out one.
On the offensive side the Panthers were led by Kamryn Shaffer, Sammey Bunch and Daryn Lamprecht. Shaffer went 3-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI's, scored two runs and walked once. Bunch went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI's and scored once. Lamprecht went 1-for-3 with one home run, two RBI's, scored one run, and walked once. Emmy Wells also delivered for UNI going 3-for-3 and scoring twice.
The Panthers are back in action Tuesday, April 27th when the Bulldogs of Drake come to Cedar Falls. The game will be played at Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex with the first pitch at 6:00 pm CT.
