Panther Softball Goes 1-1 At Drake

Des Moines, Iowa – UNI Softball finished 1-1 on Tuesday, April 20^th winning against the Bulldogs of Drake 2-1 in game one and losing 9-1 in game two to start the week.

Game 1 | UNI 2, Drake 1
The Panthers scored two runs on eight hits and committed one error.

In the circle, Kailyn Packard got the ball to start for the Panthers. Packard (14-5) and picked up the win, going all seven innings giving up one earned run on six hits, struck out seven and walked two.

At the plate, Sammey Bunch and Adara Opiola led the way for the Panthers. Bunch went 2-for-2 with one double, scored one run, and walked twice. Opiola went 1-for-4 with two RBI's. Opiola's two RBI's came in clutch in the top of the 6^th with UNI down 1-0. With Madison Parks on third and Sammey Bunch on second, Opiola hit a one hopper to the wall in deep right center field that would score both as the Panthers took the lead and would win the game by a final score of 2-1.

The Panthers scored one run on two hits and committed two errors over five innings played in game two against the Bulldogs.

On the offensive side, The Panthers were led by Daryn Lamprecht and Taylor Hogan. Both Lamprecht and Hogan went 1-for-2 recording UNI's two hits. Madison Parks also scored one run and walked twice. Park's lone run of the game came in the top of the 3^rd inning when she scored on a wild pitch that would make the score 3-1. The Panthers struggled at the plate not pushing another run across for the remainder of the game.

Junior Erica Oler (5-5) got the ball to start for the Panthers. Oler threw 3 1/3 innings giving up eight runs, seven earned runs, seven hits, struck out one, and walked two. Hailey Sanders came in to relieve Oler in the bottom of the 4^th inning. Sanders went 2/3 innings giving up one earned run on two hits, struck out one Bulldog batter as well as walking one.

The Panthers are back in action Apr. 24 – 25 when they host Bradley University for a three game weekend series at Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex. Two games will take place on Saturday with the start times of 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm CT. Sunday's game will start at 11:00 am CT for the final game of the weekend.
