UNI Softball Wins Thriller Against Loyola Chicago

Chicago, Illinois – UNI softball won the final game of their weekend series against the Ramblers of Loyola Chicago on Saturday, April 17^th by a score of 3-1. UNI now has an overall record of 21-14 and 11-4in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Panthers recorded three runs, on seven hits, and committed no errors.

The Panthers picked up their second win of the weekend after going to nine innings. In the top of the 9^thinning, Madison Parks started off the inning with a walk followed by a double to right center by Sammey Bunch that would advance Parks to third base. Adara Opiola singled down the right field line to score both Parks and Bunch as the Panthers went on to win the game 3-1.

In the circle, Sophomore ace Kailyn Packard (13-5) picked up the win going all nine innings giving up only five hits, one earned run, walked one and struck out eight.

On the offensive side the Panthers were led by Seniors Sammey Bunch and Adara Opiola. Bunch went 2-for-5 and one run. Opiola went 3-for-4 with one double, two RBI's, and was walked once.

The Panthers are back in action Tuesday, April 20^th when UNI will play a double header against the Bulldogs of Drake. The games will start with the first pitches set for 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm CT.
