Panthers Split With Loyola Chicago

Chicago, Illinios – UNI Softball finished 1-1 on Friday, April 16th winning against Loyola Chicago 4-2 in game one and losing 10-9 in game two to start the weekend series.
Game 1 | UNI 4, Loyola Chicago 2
The Panthers scored four runs on seven hits and had one error.
In the circle, Erica Oler got the ball to start for the Panthers. Oler (5-4) and picked up the win, going 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits, two earned runs, struck out eight and walked none. Hailey Sanders came in the top of the 6th inning with one out to relieve Oler. Sanders went 1 1/3 innings giving up no runs, one hit, struck out one and walked none.
On the offensive side the Panthers found a spark from Seniors Sammey Bunch and Adara Opiola. Bunch went 2-for-4 with one double, scored one run, had one RBI, and stole one base. Opiola also came up big for the Panthers going 2-for-3 with one RBI and was walked once. Kamryn Shaffer also was hot at the plate going 1-1 with one home run, two runs, one RBI, was walked three times, and stole one base.
Game 2 | UNI 9, Loyola Chicago 10
The Panthers scored nine runs on ten hits and committed three errors and their eight-game win streak came to an end.
On the offensive side, The Panthers were led by Sammey Bunch, Madison Parks and Sammy Moss. Bunch went 2-for-4 in game two with one triple, two runs, one RBI, and was walked once. Parks went 1-for-4 with one double, one run, and 2 RBI's,
Sophomore Kailyn Packard (12-5) started on the bump for the Panthers. Packard threw 1 2/3 innings giving up five earned runs, six hits, struck out one, and walked one. Hailey Sanders came in to relieve Packard in the bottom of the second inning. Sanders gave up five runs, three earned, eight hits, walked three and struck out none.
