Softball Starts MVC Play Against Missouri State

Cedar Falls, Iowa - The UNI Softball team will begin Missouri Valley Conference play Mar. 20 -
Mar. 21 as they take on the Bears of Missouri State. The Bears have an overall record of 9-8
while the Panthers sit with a 9-10 overall record heading into the weekend as they look to get
into the win column starting conference play.

The Panthers:
• UNI surged on the final day of the Rock Chalk Challenge. Picking up two big wins against
Kansas and South Dakota State. The two wins on the final day were the only wins of the
weekend as the Panthers sit 9-10 overall.
• Kailyn Packard was named MVC Newcomer of the Week following her outstanding
performance at the Rock Chalk Challenge. Packard finished the weekend with a 0.64 ERA, 13
strikeouts, 4 walks, and pitched a total of fourteen innings.
• Offensively Shortstop Sammey Bunch leads the Panthers at the plate. The Senior from
Frankenstein, Missouri has a batting average of .421, 24 Hits, 19 Runs, 20, RBI's, and a
Slugging Percentage of 1.070%.
