Panther Women Roll Past Loyola Ramblers with 27-Point Win

CEDAR FALLS, IA – The UNI women's basketball team rolled past the Loyola Ramblers with a 78-51 win on Friday, Feb. 19. The Panthers claimed the win after they held the lead for 99.0% of the game.
UNI held a lead of 12 points over the Ramblers, 25-13 starting the second half but the Ramblers went on a 10-2 run cutting the Panther lead to seven points, 29-22. Cynthia Wolf came in clutch with a layup that restarted the Panther offense, ending the half, 39-28.
The Ramblers challenged the Panthers again with 5:49 left in the third quarter after going on a 9-2 run to cut the Panther lead to 41-39.
Nicole Kroeger, Maya McDermott and Emerson Green would score three-pointers within four minutes to account for a 12-point run on the Ramblers. Loyola would not see the lead within 13 points thereafter the third quarter.
Wolf scored a team-high 13 points for the night and 12 rebounds for a career double-double. She went 6-7 from the field as well as recording two blocks and assists for the team.
Allison Day held the game-high of 16 points for the Ramblers and also claimed the team-high of seven rebounds. Loyola would end the game by shooting 33.9% from the field and 75.0% from the free-throw line.
On the Panthers PINK OUT game held to raise awareness for Breast Cancer, Coach Tanya Warren would donate $25.00 for each three-pointer the Panthers made.
The win over the Loyola Ramblers ended with the Panthers hitting 12 three-pointers and coach Warren will donate $300.00 to Breast Cancer Awareness.
The Panthers and the Ramblers meet again Saturday, Feb. 20, at the McLeod Center. Tip-off will be at 4 p.m.
GAME NOTES:
- Megan Maahs now has 811 career rebounds and is four points away from the No. 19 spot on the All-Time Scoring list with 1,041 points.
- Karli Rucker is No. 10 on the All-Time Scoring list with 1,285 points and only needs 10 more points to claim the No. 9 spot.
- Cynthia Wolf recorded a career double-double tonight with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
- Taryn Scheuermann recorded her first career stat as a Panther tonight scoring two points.
- The Panthers scored 12 total three-pointers tonight, Nicole Kroger and Kayba Laube both making two of the 12.
